I love textiles and fibers. I brought my collection with me when I moved to Mexico. After a few years as owner of Kimball Gallery, I rented the back half of an indigenous Art Gallery in Ajijic as a painting studio. Master weaver, Teodulo Urzua, set up a loom in the front of the gallery.

We became partners and built the original Kimball/Urzua Gallery in West Ajijic. I designed one of a kind wall-art patterns and oversaw the designs while Teo wove on our two-harness ancient looms, fingers manipulating the warp in a myriad of color, as he were tatting. A couple of years later, Teo's son, Francisco, moved in with us.

When Teo died, Francisco, more willing to experiment, became the master weaver in our studios. Our work was a true collaboration. Francisco died two years ago. The looms are gone. I cannot part with the weavings that cover my walls. I feel their heartbeat. The love in their creation. I am blessed.
